I am back with the Week 2 update of my #SubscribeToSmooth challenge with Gillette Venus.
So its been two weeks since I started using the amazing Gillette Venus razor and so far I have used it twice to shave off the hair from my legs.

In today's post, I will not only be sharing my experience and how my skin feels- post two weeks of starting Shaving, but will also try to bust few myths related to Shaving.


So I usually wait for atleast 15-20 days to shave off the hair but I could see a little growth after 10 days of using Gillette Venus and I had to wear a knee-length dress for a party, which made me go for using the razor for the 2nd time.
This time as well the shaving experience was really smooth and pain-free, and the razor also removed small hairs as my hair growth is quite slow. I didn't experience any ingrown hairs or dry skin post hair removal.

Did my experience break some common Myths related to Shaving? Read on :

• Shaving regularly causes Hair to grow darker and faster - 

It is advised to use a specialized shaving cream or gel like like Satin Care lubricate to help provide a layer of protection against nicks and cuts keeping skin well hydrated. It also helps you keep track of where you've shaved to help you avoid missing any spots.

• Shaving over the same area repeatedly will give better results - 

Shaving one spot over and over will irritate skin. If you're having trouble with rough spots or stubble, it may be time to change your blade.

So here's the 2nd part of my Dubai Shopping Haul. As I didn't get much time to visit the local markets, I did 90% of my shopping from the famous Dubai Mall, and trust me - I still think I would need another trip to shop to my heart's content from this amazing mall.

Without blabbering much, here are the pictures of rest of my purchases :

Lipsticks : Flormar

I remember picking a Fuschia lipstick from a Flormar kiosk in Select CITYWALK 2 year back, but I never saw the brand again in India. So, when I came across their huge store in Dubai Mall, I couldn't help picking not 1, but 3 lipsticks for my mother and friend as I really love the texture of their lipsticks. These were priced at around 30 Dirham each.

Crop Tops : ZARA

Okay I know you all must be thinking, why I even visited ZARA when it is available here in Delhi? But I was really curious to see what collection they have in Delhi, and come on, no one can  miss shopping from ZARA, no matter which part of the world they are in.
So, I ended up picking these 2 crop tops for 25 Dirhams each and I really loved the collection in the Dubai Mall store as the designs were far far better from the ones available in stores here.

Noodle Strap top : H&M

You all must be aware that H&M is having its Grand opening in Delhi on 2nd October, but still I couldn't resist visiting the H&M store there. But as it was my last stop in the Dubai Mall, I ended up picking just one top which has a really sexy fit and was actually a steal as I picked it for around 20 Dirham only.

Purse : SUITE BLANCO

 I bought this chic animal print clutch purse from a brand known as SUITE BLANCO for 40 Dirham only. I had never heard of this brand, but they had pretty floral dresses and trendy bags which were priced quite reasonably.

Suit Dress : MANGO

Maxi Dress : Pull & Bear

This dress is one of the most pretty maxi dresses I have. The color, the pleats and the frills at the neckline are simply beautiful, and it is from a brand Pull & Bear which is from the Inditex group that also has Zara. It was priced at 100 Dirham after discount,

Ohh and finally, the big Reveal - my first ever PRADA purchase - their iconic Baroque sunglasses.


Featuring a sophisticated design in a round shape with the lavish baroque accents, I purchased these trendy glasses for around 1000 Dirham.

I am so in love with these sunglasses and just can't wait to style them up in my upcoming shoots.

Hope you remember my last post on the Gillette Venus event and #SubscribeToSmooth challenge? I am back with my first week update on the same and also I am going to cover some precautions that one must take during shaving process.

As I already mentioned that I have undergone Laser Hair Removal for upper-lips and under-arms, I decided to go ahead with Shaving off hair from my legs first to see the results.


Before talking about the features of Gillette Venus razor and my experience with the same, here are few Do's and Dont's that you must keep in mind before Shaving -

Dos and Don’ts of Shaving

• Do stretch and shave - The underarm skin and behind your knees is supple and flexible to allow movement at these jointed areas, which can make it harder to shave as the skin moves with the razor. To keep these areas as taut as possible for a cleaner shave, stretch your arm up and reach your hand behind your shoulder, and pull your leg straight

• Don’t soak in the bath for too long before shaving - The skin will over-hydrate and swell slightly as it begins to absorb water. This will compromise the smoothness of the shave. The optimum time for a pre-shave soak is approximately one to two minutes

• Don’t apply too much pressure on your razor - A precision made female razor like Gillette Venus is designed to glide with minimum effort over the skin’s surface. Forcing the razor can end up leaving you with nicks



• Don’t worry about direction – Modern razors are so effective that you can shave in any direction that feels comfortable to you. However the hairs on our underarm area grow in random directions so for a truly clean shaven feeling you need to work in a variety of directions also

• Do leave fiddly bits until last - Ankles, back of knees and thighs are best dealt with as you get into the flow of a shave and are most in control of the razor

• Do store your razor correctly - Store your razor in an upright position and somewhere dry. Do not leave it on the bath side in pools of water as this is a breeding ground for bacteria

• Don’t rub your razor to try to clean it with brushes or towels, simple rinsing should do the job - You could blunt the blade and damage the coatings - these blades are incredibly fine and you need that coating.

So, these are some basic tips that one must keep in mind for a smooth Shaving experience.
