When I got my hands on the latest offering by LYF Smartphone+ - Reliance Retail's brand of VoLTE 4G smartphones that’s been launched in India in 2016 - I knew I was up for many surprises.

LYF Wind 3 is a stylish, sleek, dual SIM, 4G ready smartphone with some excellent features, packed in a budget that is affordable for everyone.



I would be reviewing LYF Wind 3 on three major parameters : Features, Camera and Battery Life.


First things first, WIND 3 stands out with its curvy edges and matte finish that gives it a classy look while making it easy to hold and carry in a pocket or bag. It features a 5.50-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels at a PPI of 267 pixels per inch.

WIND 3 is also protected by Asahi Glass to keep it scratch-resistant which serves as a boon for people like me who are a little careless when it comes to handling a smartphone.

With a 2GB RAM, the phone packs 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card - which is more than sufficient for a lifestyle blogger who loves to store apps, music and pictures.

WIND 3 produces images at a resolution of 1280x720 pixels and adds finer details to images or videos, giving a sharp and vibrant picture.

If you haven’t heard already, the phone comes with the JIO Preview Offer. Under this preview offer, you can get 90 days of unlimited data, unlimited HD VoLTE voice calls and unlimited texts. Given that the phone comes with these special JIO apps, it makes the offer very very lucrative.

It also features a mirror-surfaced fingerprint sensor and uses a USB Type-C port which acts as a data transfer and charging port as well as a CDLA port for digital audio.


Camera :

LeEco Le 2 is packed with a 16-MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 8-MP front camera. The front camera is surprisingly sharp and helps get very bright and clear shots. The Beauty mode of the camera helps get an even-toned look by smoothing the complexion.

I tested the rear camera to take pictures of the valley during my stay at Golden Tulip, Chandigarh - and Le 2 helped me capture very fine details, however the images could have been a little more sharper. The camera works well in day-time and well-lit interiors.

One of the interesting parts of the superphone is that you can use the Fingerprint scanner to click selfies as well.

Battery Life : 

The LeEco Le 2 features a  3,000mAh battery which makes it strong enough to last an average day (clicking selfies, using Whatsapp and checking mails) without having to charge it.

Le 2 also has a Quick charging feature which sometimes makes the device heat up while charging so I prefer charging it using the normal mode which makes the battery last for 7-8 hours.

Overall, I found the LeEco Le 2, priced at Rs 11,999, a great-value-for-money device packed with amazing features, attractive design and a decent camera in budget. 

You also get first year membership of LeEco free which gives you an access to a wide range of audio and video content through apps like LeVidi and LIVE.

The Secondary camera is no less, and has 13 MP, f/2.2, phase detection autofocus main camera with single LED flash which helps you get pictures as good as a digicam.
Battery Life :

OPPO F1 is equipped with a 2500mAh sealed in battery which is an improvement from its R7 and R7 Lite variants. I charged my phone once in the morning and was able to use it for an entire day without any further charging for clicking pictures, checking & replying emails, listening to music and browsing the internet for long.

This makes the battery life pretty good and most of the other smartphones I have used, need a charge in 6-8 hours after pretty much the same usage.
